Tactless M-cyclists parking on tactiles

PEOPLE are urging the authorities to act against those who park their motorcycles in front of the Mara office in Pengkalan Weld in George Town, Penang.

A check saw 15 motorcycles parked on the pavement.

Apart from blocking the path of pedestrians, some motorcycles parked on tactiles, which help to guide blind people.

A hawker, Pak Man, said most of those who parked their motorcycles there were patrons of a nearby eatery.

He said the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) did issue summonses.

“But the motorcyclists park there again after a few days.”

ACTIONLINE:

A spokesman for the MBPP enforcement unit said officers would conduct more patrols and issue summonses to motorcyclists who parked on the pavement.

“We have advised them to make use of parking spots available.”

The spokesman said: “We will not accept any more excuses from them if they continue to park there.”
