#Showbiz: Actress Serina slams ex-husband, news report for implying she faces jail

KUALA LUMPUR: Serina Redzuawan has hit out at her ex-husband Gavin O’Luanaigh who reportedly claimed that she had defied a court order pertaining to the custody of their two children.

The actress and daughter of celebrity chef Datuk Redzuawan Ismail or Chef Wan said in an Instagram post yesterday that O’Luanaigh or Salahudin Ghaffar, 41, had accused her of allowing the children to sleep in the same bedroom as their grandfather, and described his claim as “absurd”.

Serina also expressed her unhappiness over a news report yesterday saying that she might be going to jail for defying the order.

“Great game plan he’s got - accusing me of defying court order just because I allowed the children to sleep in the same room as my father, their grandpa.

“They’re still pre-teens, and grandpa’s got no problem with this.

“How about he himself defying court order and living like a non-Muslim - having a great time with another woman in front of the children, and getting nabbed for khalwat?

“He’s just out to seek cheap publicity.

“The truth will prevail,” said Serina, whose post received strong support from Netizens.

Meanwhile, Chef Wan also hit out at his former son-in-law in two Instagram posts yesterday.

“He is trying very hard to stop Serina from getting custody of the children. Now he’s accusing her of allowing them to sleep in my room.

“Is there such a law? I’m their grandfather for God’s sake, and they’ve always slept in my room.

“Is he trying to imply that I’m a paedophile? Sick!” said Chef Wan in his posts.

A Netizen identified only as Beyya wished Serina well. “You are so strong kakak. God is with you.”

Eidaa said: “May the truth be on your side Serina.”

“Fight and never give up,” said Dyda.

“Pray that you’ll overcome this challenge,” said Zalyena.

Last month, Serina said on Instagram that she had to undergo the bitter ordeal of “being bullied and emotionally tortured” as a mother by her ex-husband, who had “purposely tried to distance her from her children”.

Serina further alleged that her ex-husband had broken a court order and was even caught for “khalwat” (close proximity) while their children were at home with him.

The actress wrote that there was a prior agreement to care for the children together and that the little ones would stay with their father to avoid any emotional distress on them due to the divorce.

Serina, 35, tied the knot with British expat businessman, O'Luanaigh on January 1, 2010. They have two children - Tristan Tareef, 7, and Isabella Safiyya, 6.

Serina and O’Luanaigh were divorced on Aug 1, 2017 after living apart for two years.
