Flood: Two more deaths in Kelantan

KOTA BARU: Two more people died in the floods in Kelantan, bringing the total death tally to three, with one person missing so far.

A spokesman for the state Fire and Rescue Department said the body of the first victim, identified as Mohd Isa Hamat, 40, was found at Kampung Kubang Rusa in Bukit Gading, Tanah Merah about 3am today.

It was understood that Mohd Isa was swept away by strong currents when he went out to check his fishing early this morning. His body was

recovered by villagers.

The spokesman said the body of a 17-year old was also found at Kampung Jejuluk in Pengkalan Kubur, Tumpat today.

However, no further details were available at press time on the victim’s identity.

On Thursday, and epileptic man became the first casualty of the floods when he was found drowned in Kampung Limbat. A 20-month baby girl

is still missing after she slipped off her mother's arm and fell into the floodwaters at Kampung Telekong in Kuala Krai.

To date, 15,540 flood victims in Kelantan have been relocated to 109 relief centres. In Terengganu, 10,186 victims have been moved to 134 relief centres in the state.
