Teen motorcyclist loses life in Cheras crash

KUALA LUMPUR: A 17-year old motorcyclist died when he crashed into the back of a lorry at the Cheras roundabout this morning.

The deceased, identified as Cheong Wai Soon, was believed to have been heading to the city centre from Kajang in the 9.20am incident.

City police Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department (TEID) officer Deputy Superintendent Shafie Daud said the motorcycle which Cheong rode hit the back of the lorry. It is believed he lost control of his machine.

“He sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot,” Shafie said.

The deceased’s remains were sent to the Kuala Lumpur hospital for a post-mortem. His family has been notified of the incident.

The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road and Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving.
