Kuantan PPBM youth chief lodges police report against fellow party members

KUALA LUMPUR: The Kuantan Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) youth chief today lodged a police report over baseless allegations against him by other party members.

Mohd Asyraf Muhammad Asri made the report at Dang Wangi police headquarters here as their allegations had become viral on social media.

He said fellow members had hurled negative comments and insinuations against him for his criticisms on the party’s leadership after PPBM annual general meeting on Dec 30.

"I am here to clear my image from their accusations and within three days I wish to get some response from them,” he told reporters.

Asyraf said the allegations against him not only affected him but also his family.

"The insults hurled at me are unacceptable as I have never had any bad intentions towards the party.

"If the abuse continues and they are reluctant to apologise, I have no other choice but to take legal action against them," he said.

Asyraf said negative comments on him had been circulating on social media and that these had sullied his image.

He said he made criticism on PPBM leadership as there was insufficient space for him to voice his opinion and ask questions at the meeting.

"The voice of youths seemed to be blocked and there was no concept of democracy in the party.

"I am deeply disappointed that there was no question and answer session at the meeting. Youths have their own views, but we were blocked," he said.
