Large tree falls onto Beaufort home, injuring man

BEAUFORT: A man in Kampung Klias Kecil here was injured when a five metre-tall tree fell onto his kitchen, causing it to partially collapse.

Ahmad Shamsudin Moksin, 54, headmaster of Sekolah Agama Negeri Rancangan Klias, suffered injuries to his forehead and left shoulder in the 2pm incident.

He is reported to be in stable condition after receiving treatment at the Beaufort Hospital.

It is learned that Ahmad Shamsudin and his wife, Aisah Aneh, 52, were in their house when the incident occurred.

Beaufort's Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) officer Mohd Mayroof Koibil said it received a call on the incident at 2.10pm, and despatched a team to the scene.

He said rescue personnel had to sever fragments of the fallen tree using special equipment and chainsaws.

"The operation ended at 3.30pm and was assisted by firefighters from the Beaufort Fire and Rescue Station,” he said.
