Three rivers surpass warning levels, three others remain at alert levels in Pahang

KUANTAN: Three rivers in Pahang have surpassed warning levels while three others are at alert levels as of 8am today.

The three rivers that have surpassed warning levels are Sungai Tanum at Chegar Perah Bridge, Lipis, recording a reading of 97.32 meters (m), Sungai Kechau at Kampung Dusun, Lipis (81.98

m), and Sungai Luit at Kampung Subuh, Maran (27.11 m).

According to the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS) website, the three rivers that have reached alert level readings are Sungai Serting at Padang Gudang Bridge, Bera; Sungai Jempol

at FELDA Jengka Settlement, Maran, and Sungai Belat at Sri Damai, here.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) in its morning statement announced no thunderstorm warning in the state.

Meanwhile, the Director of the Pahang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Datuk Dr Wan Mohammad Zaidi Wan Isa, advised the public to be alert and relocate when directed to do so.

"It is advisable to monitor children playing in flood-prone areas, rivers, drains, and mines to

prevent unwanted incidents.

"In preparation for the Northeast Monsoon (MTL), all preparations involving manpower and logistics are running smoothly.

"The manpower strength involves 1,193 personnel comprising full-time officers, auxiliary fire

officers, and volunteer fire brigades.

"In terms of logistics, it includes 257 vehicles including marine vessels, trucks, multi-purpose vehicles, four-wheel drives, and buses.

"Among other equipment are safety jackets, paddles, flashlights, lifebuoys, and ropes for rescue operations," he said.
