NSTviral: Man confronts stranger for allegedly taking inappropriate photos on MRT ride

KUALA LUMPUR: An incident on the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) has recently sparked public concern after a man confronted a stranger for allegedly taking inappropriate pictures of his girlfriend.

In a widely circulated post on social media platform X, user @farisabshar detailed the unsettling encounter during a train journey from Bukit Bintang to Bandar Utama.

According to Faris, upon arriving at Bandar Utama station, he confronted the man while he was topping up his Touch 'n Go card and promptly reported the matter to MRT officials.

"I brought him to the counter and informed the MRT staff that he seemed to be taking pictures of my girlfriend," he said.

Faris said MRT staff swiftly contacted the auxiliary police, leading to police intervention.

Following the incident, Faris and his girlfriend proceeded to Mutiara Damansara police station to file a formal report.

However, he claimed the investigation officer declined to pursue the case due to insufficient motives.

Faris added that his girlfriend experienced trauma, mainly as she relies on public transport.

"The man, as a husband and father, should feel ashamed. Doesn't he have any sense of guilt?" Faris said.

He expressed gratitude to MRT staff for their assistance and support provided to his girlfriend during the ordeal, urging vigilance and awareness of such incidents on public transport.

At press time, the New Straits Times is seeking confirmation from the authorities regarding the matter.

Meanwhile, Rapid KL, in response to the viral post, asserted that internal actions will be taken regarding the matter, and preventive measures will also be implemented.

"Dear Sir, we have been informed about the incident and have taken immediate internal action.

"Additionally, we are actively working on implementing measures to prevent such occurrences in the future."
