Dr M: PPBM will defy RoS order, continue activities using name and logo

PETALING JAYA: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) is disputing the legality of the Registrar of Societies (RoS) order of provisional dissolution issued against it.

Its chairman, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, said the party would not halt any of its activities.

He said the letter issued to the party’s secretary-general had “many wrong legal terms”.

“Moreover, RoS should have delivered the notice to the person concerned, but the letter was not handed over to the person named in the letter in accordance with Section 62 of the Societies Act

“Besides, they sent the letter to our previous office in Damansara when they clearly know that we have moved here. The terms used in the notice are confusing, we are not sure if we are suspended or delisted, so we assume that we can still function as a party.

“We will continue to campaign... we have the right to use our name and logo till the day RoS deregisters us,” he told reporters at PPBM headquarters.

Dr Mahathir said PPBM would appeal against the RoS provisional dissolution order to Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

“If the home minister refuses (to assist), we will appeal in a court of law.”
