Perlis FA president quits after saying a 'million apologies' to fans

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Amizal Shaifit, who has incurred the wrath of Perlis fans for the Northern Lions’ expulsion from the Premier League, resigned yesterday as Perlis FA president.

Amizal has been slammed by players and fans over non-payment of wages, and the team’s bad financial situation has led to the Malaysian Football League deeming Perlis as incapable of taking part in the Premier League.

Amizal said he had tendered his resignation letter to the PFA yesterday.

“My resignation is due to the pressure from the Perlis fans,” he admitted.

“I thanked those who have helped me during my months as PFA president.

“I say a million apologies to Perlis fans for my failure to lead (the Perlis team).

“I have tried my best to make Perlis strong again.”
